Arrival plans

It seems like things are all pretty much planned so far. I am leaving April 2, arriving April 3 in Frankfrurt airport (there are no direct flights into Stuttgart). I will be taking a train from Frankfurt to Stuttgart where I will be collected by two of my collegues. I could have taken a connecting flight to Stuttgart airport but I know myself and being on a plane for over 7 hours will be enough! I plan on flying out at 5pm Toronto time and arriving around 7am German time the next day. The train takes a little over an hour to get to Stuttgart but is apparently very easy to locate in the airport. That is a good thing as I am horrible with directions.

After being collected, I will be wisked off to my hotel where my collegues will bring me to the hotel, show me the area, how to get to work (which is apprx 1 km walk) and other useful places. I know one of the people who will be showing me around and I am excited to meet him. We have been chatting for a few weeks and I think we will have some fun together during my three month stay.

The hotel in which I will be staying in is pretty nice and has the basic amenities needed. Bonus, I will get breakfast daily! Score! My room is also equipped with tv, phone, minibar, bed linens and towels. I am very happy that I will have use of the internet (wireless) but there is no dvd-player and iron available. My parents do have a portable DVD player so I will be taking that for sure for the movies I will be watching during my down time. Also, I heard that the German cable system has like 2 english speaking channels plus CNN so I will bring tv shows on dvd to fill some of my nights.

So far, so good I think. I am truly happy to be so blessed to be given this opportunity, yes, of a life time. I mean, who can say they got to do this via their company? Wow, thank the good Lord.

Now, I am planning my weekends in earnest. I have 3 trips planned so far and will update here. I will start booking my tickets this month as the prices don't look like they are going down but they are pretty good for inter-Europe flights in any case. I am also scouring train trips for my weekend galivanting. My friend in Germany is helping me with some possible places to visit but my super fantastic friends here have given me a great list to work through. Of course, I will not be able to see all the places they suggested in 3 short months, but damn it, I will try my hardest!
