Beer and new adventures

Friday night was my first real intro into the German world and it was great. After Jenny collected me from my hotel, we booked it to Stuttgart for the evening. We met up with 2 other colleagues and had a smashing good time. First on the menu (literally) was food. We went to an authentic German restaurant that served Swabian fare. I had spatzle with cheese, some sort of meat that looked like spam and a flattened sort of seasoned sausaged. I skipped the spam look a like but had the rest. Spatzle is really good and hardy. I had it once in Miami so I knew what I was eating but the cheese takes it over the top. Of course I couldn't finish dinner. It was just way too much food. Of couse served with this was a local Stuttgart beer.Germany_da..009_038.jpg My dinner

I cant remember the name of the beer but it was truly nice. A bit bitter but light and mild overall. Interestingly my collegues thought it was a bit rough. Imagine me, a non beer drinker thinking this ale to be mild compared to some of the worlds most serious beer drinkers. After dinner we had a customary shot. I had some sort of hot whisky which burned a hole in my chest on the way down. Then it was time for the good stuff. Partying!!!

We headed to an Irish Pub, authentic I am told, after dinner for a customary guiness. I am very proud to say that I finished the entire huge glass. Guiness is so intense but I managed to drink and have a good time. After having excellent conversation, the four of us made it to the high light of the night; the party spot. Don't ask me the name as I cant remember nor was I paying attention. I was focused on the great music blaring out of the joint and the fact that there was no cover charge. Of course the drinks were expensive but worth the price. Half the glass, which is tall, was alcohol and the balance was pop or whatever the drink was mixed with. Well to say I got a nice buzz is an understatement. Imagine jamming music, alcohol, happy people and ME in Germany. Very good combination.

Even though I had come off a day of travel, and new experiences, I had a great night. When my head hit the pillow that night I slept quickly but not for long. For some reason, getting a full nights rest is very hard. Still. That will change as I get used to the place and into a regular routine.

Enjoy some other random pictures of Kornwestheim and Stuttgart until next time.
