Why I am staying at a hotel

When I was selected for the program here, I was told that I would be set up in a hotel instead of an apartment. At first I thought of it as strange but didn't really question it as it didn't really matter to me. As long as I had somewhere decent to sleep, I was good. My hotel is nice, small and fit's in perfectly for the city. The only things I hate is that they don't have a place to do laundry nor do they have laundry service. Also, I have a mini fridge so no cooking for me and I can't really store too many things in there. Once again, this is not really an issue or problem, just minor annoyances. That is even too much a strong word for how I feel. Overall, I love this hotel life.

However, my friends and I were talking and we said it was too bad that I couldn't have some get togethers in my room because of the small size. That really is too bad so then I started to really think, why am I in a hotel and not an apartment? After asking HR, I got my answer.

At the old office (they moved about 4 years ago) they had an apartment set up for short and long term stays which worked out great for them. Since the move however, this has changed. The people who rent out aparments in Kornwestheim only rent out places for a minimum of 3 years!! None of this month by month or year contract for them. Too short of a time I assume. This is just one more thing for me to scratch my head about the German life. I think that is the craziest shit ever. I mean, who rents a place for 3 years? So much can happen in that time. Anyway, I got my answer and then some in the form of city information so.....now I am up to date.
